MODULE SUBMISSON FORM
SUBMISSION DEADLINE:        12th DECEMBER – 11-12pm

RATIONALE
Throughout my third year I want to focus on branding and identity with an ongoing investigation into a variety of briefs from corporate to independent identities. The re-written briefs and my statement of intent will highlight that I will have a range of research/concept/skills based briefs as I think this year it is important to try to improve in all areas of my design set. My main focus is to become confident in my skills. I want to concentrate on improving my knowledge of colour theory and typesetting. Concept development throughout the branding process is something I want to explore too.

Something else that is paramount in my development is further industry experience and networking as I want to work in a studio when I leave. While being at university I think there is an element of momentum that I could lose when I leave so its important to me to make the transition between here and work as soon as possible. I am mainly focused on moving to London so over the next few months internships/placements and studio visits are high on my rationale.

Title and Brief Summary – include a short rationale for each brief identifying why you chose it, what was the focus of the brief and how long you spent on it.

BRIEF 1

A skills based investigation of promoting fashion blogging with a focus on extending a brand from strictly digital material to more extensive collateral.

I have expanded on an already strong online presence of the fashion blogger Leandra Medine, otherwise known as ‘The Man Repeller’. Building a stronger brand identity through creating further branded material.

I chose this brief due to my interest in fashion blogs and I had been following her blog for a while. She had a strong tone of voice which sets her apart. I had noticed how her current website wasn’t making the most of her images and so this was what initially caused me to consider strengthening her identity both on screen and off.

BRIEF 2

This live brief was suggested to me and seemed like a great opportunity so I asked Ben to collaborate with me. Their product, a waterproof onesie for festivals was what needed branding with full identity. The chance to work on a live brief and one with founders that are a similar age and personalities meant we had a large amount of creative input.

BRIEF 3

This live competition brief was one I liked from the D&AD awards as I thought the problem was interesting and allowed a wide variety of outcomes so gave me the freedom with both concept and deliverables.

I have proposed a sister brand to the current ‘It’s Nice That’ named ‘It’s Nice There’. A promotional platform for creative events across the UK with app, website, promotional material and logo.

BRIEF 4

A previous ISTD brief that I chose due to the interesting concept that would allow me to explore different areas of deliverables.

The main focus of this brief was to work with a concept to develop and discovering how to use a logo and manipulate promotion through it.

Brief 5

A small live brief to design identity and promotion for Putnoe Medical Centre. This was a paid brief and seemed like a good smaller brief to do.

Working with live clients was something that I stated I wanted to do in my rationale at the beginning of term so I jumped at the opportunity despite it only being small.

Brief 6

A personal brief continuing from a live summer brief I was set by a consultancy firm in Africa, this helped with my industrial experience however due to the client being in Africa a lot it is not yet resolved and with very minimal outcomes so I set this personal brief to explore what else I could do with it.
