Type session 2

A recognisable character for differentiating typefaces: upper case Q and R then also lower case a.








Type journal, based on this exercise, find 6 brand names that could be off any packaging etc. Analyse the type with the language we have been learning and using. An analysis of why the typeface suits the brand. (A bad one would be really good).

Type session 1

Break the rules if you want to irritate someone or make a point to it.

See type as someone talking to you.

Too many words on a line makes the reader give up half way through, this could be used to make a statement.

Utilising tools can add to the effectiveness.

'A use of colour in type is due to the typographer is shit'.

Remember to look at your work and think about it.

Characteristics of type usually found in the only things you can change, e.g. tail.

Numbers are called figures.


Noticing an aspect of the character, realising this key characteristic of a certain letter leads us to make the pattern.

Analysis of a typeface. 
Select a typeface
Save it as a pdf quark

Name of font
Describe construction 
Description of key characteristics
Key letter for identificaton

San serif font, compare it to helvetica
Full font, can use colour.
