Website development, concept confirmation

I want the concept of this sector of the business to work online and with the app. This will allow the company to ensure that the information will be constantly updated and I think this is key. Especially with regards to students.

I wanted to keep some consistency with their its nice that website. The horizontal navigation bar also seemed more appropriate.

This allows for a blog like update for each event with representative dates.

I think this layout is too erratic and so this website needs more development on the grid and layout to ensure consistency.

Im not sure if its a good idea to have a website that has buttons on both the left and at the top but this is the website and homepage I am going to add for submission of this module however I hope to adapt this and make a much more user friendly website. I think the concept it good so it will be worth the time  amending these things for the competition submission.

Further work on app

I had been struggling with creating the app to look like it was interactive, however I think this works better by combining images text and arrows...

Mocked up posters

I thought for the boards that it would be appropriate for me to mock up the posters to assess the size and amount of information. After doing this I tried to assess what I would think of it and how to improve it. I think its very informative if you know what its on about so perhaps giving some information about what It's Nice That is too may help and also to consider images...

app development and concept

This was the development of the app. I wanted to design something that was simple to use initially and allowed the reader to view all locations but subscribe to a certain area.

I wanted there to be an introductory stage to explain the intention of this app and also to reinforce the tone of voice. I used some of language from the website to ensure this was relevant and in keeping.

This was my initial trial but I didnt like the white as I thought it seemed unfriendly and also the size of the text was really not going to work well. I liked how instructive it was though, 'How to use the Nice app' - I thought the clarity of this was good.

I considered about using a map to indicate where each place was but was unsure how this would translate when introducing more areas and thought it may need to be simpler and more obvious so considered a search bar as seen above and then thought that it didn't look very interactive. So I thought a gradient button may also help.. but decided that this wouldnt work well enough due to the lack of clarity.

This layout is a lot cleaner and may work with the cities with their corresponding colour..

Promotional Posters

This is the full range for the cities I have decided on. I think that they work well as a set, however, I think their main use and would usually be seen on their own. I have replicated the same information for each of the posters however, this would obviously vary for each place.

I think its also good how the two pinks look different when there is a larger area of them.

One thing that may need consideration is putting the website address on the posters. I have put it on the green Newcastle one and think its okay in the positioning but I think this could be explored a lot further..

Initial promotional material for Its Nice There

In response to the Its Nice That brief, I have decided on a concept of a sister brand for them. This would be a brand to help promote events both educational and entertaining. These would be grouped by area. The target audience would be students but of course this could be wider depending on the events. I initially decided I wanted to manipulate their current logo and edit it to spell 'It's Nice There' to continue their tone of voice.

For each of the original locations I wanted there to be a corresponding colour. I took inspiration from a colour palette I had seen somewhere else as I wanted the colours to be bright and bold. I had slight reservation with the cardiff and bristol colours as I thought they may appear too similar but I think that their names would always been shown along side due to the branding not ever being so reinforced or remembered.

I initially started to play with hexagons due to the idea of networking etc but decided it was too much like D&AD and this needed diversifying.

So I decided to use circles as a more simplistic shape. I thought at a later date it would be good to manipulate these as buttons in terms of apps and the website...

I wanted to show all of the other cities on the posters as I think its key to show they other places people can look up. I wanted to use large blocks of colour with a typographic emphasis.

I didnt want to use any other colours except black and stock with the added colour of the corresponding cities colour. These colours I think worked especially well when they were given a white boarder.

I thought about how much information I would want and considered using photographs but really these were an advert to go and find more information on the website and app.
