The website

The website for me is the first point of contact with the customer, the brands identity needs to be clear and website needs to be easily navigated if to be effective. I mentioned earlier about how I hoped to show the involvement with Women & Whiskies, these images below were taken at one of their events and were something that I thought would be great on the website.

The fact that they were black and white and of good quality was something that really worked with regards to my logo and general identity of the brand.

I wanted to use them because they showed a wide range of women, all enjoying whisky, this sort of imagery for me is something that I think is really important due to how visual women are with regards to what they see from a product.

I started with the logo and the three images, I then started to experiement by adding a slogan to the webpage 'The whisky for women', I had been considering this in a calligraphy styled font, however, this clashed far too much with the logo and created a mixed message so I thought that perhaps it would be a good idea to decide on two complimenting fonts, one obviously being futurist fixed-width due to it being used across the board now for my branding.

I wanted to try and create a conversation like link with the viewer and so I decided an italic version of Perpetua would be nice over the images.

It was important to link out to social networking sites to suggest further promotion there (I will hopefully get to do something for this later)

I have decided to use understated and simplified logos for the social networking platform.

I realised that certain information needed to be on the website, including a search bar, a sign up bar for a newsletter and also the tabs at the top regarding the rest of the website.

I worked out quite a strict grid and stuck to it, deciding that this would ensure no messiness with the design. I also put the Women & Whiskies logo on the website..

Overall I think this appears to be an easily navigated webpage that speaks to women through the photographs, Women & Whiskies logo and also the link with Breast Cancer Care.
