What if? : Secret Leeds

As part of our Leeds research we were put into groups regarding our initial collection 100, (which includes the photos, opinions, statistics etc re: leeds.) Our group consisted of Claudia, Chloe, Liv, Ryan, Sadie & Simon. By choosing the most relevant/important facts, words and opinion we were grouped with others with similar subject matter.

In the first week our brief was to come up with three design sheets exploring our own rationale.

Our rationale:
Problem - What surprises can you find in Leed
s?
Evidence - Ou
r collective of photography and group statement evidences t
his
We Intend To - Discover, explore and rec
ord the surprises of Leeds

Design sheets:

Here is some of our research.

Week 2:

We intend to create a map, poster and i-phone app to promote our event to our intended audience, non students in Leeds.

We hope that we can provide an event for people that are looking for an peaceful activity away from the noisy cafes of the city.

We need to be careful about how we distribute the information so that it is kept fairly secretive, so students do not find out, but so that it is available for those who we want it to be available to.

Poster - To publicise event to the selected audience
Map - To guide customers from coffee shops to parks
App - We won't actually be able to create an i-phone app but we can plan for this.

We thought about how we could direct people to the park, one idea was to hand cups from trees.

However, this idea seemed to 'fine arty' and impractical.

Therefore we decided our product would be a 'kit' and map to the park. We would be 'selling an experience''

We needed to brainstorm and decide on a name so that we could continue to develop a logo and progress.

Word related to our concept: park, picnic, fairytale, romantic, alice in wonderland, secret tea party, hidden, cake, couples.

We felt that 'Picnic in a Park' worked well due to the alliteration. It flowed well and would look good in a logo.

Claudia began the design ideas by starting on some design sheets.

further development

We also wanted to come up with some possible slogans for the posters/maps etc.

Some of our ideas:

- Picnic in a park, find a spot to park your bum and enjoy a bun
- Enjoy your own secret tea party with Picnic in a Park
- Park your bum in the secret fields of St George's park
- Enjoy your fresh, tasty treats in a relaxing, hidden park
- Escape the business of the student swarmed city centre with Picnic in a Park. Buy your tasty treats here, and enjoy them in a hidden getaway. Lets keep this our secret. Shh!
- Hey you! Want to escape the students? I'll let you in on a secret. Picnic in a Park lets you enjoy your delicious goodies in peace. Simply buy here, pick up a map, and head to the hidden getaway. Shh!
- Tuck in to your treats in peace
- Picnic in a park - but no ordinary park. A beautiful, secret getaway perfect for enjoying a tasty snack.
Just between me and you, there's a hidden getaway just waiting for you to have your own secret tea party!
- Wondering where the perfect place for your picnic is? Picnic in a Park will lead you there.

We decided on "Shh, this can be our little secret. Pick up a picnic, take a map and discover the secret location.

Ryan created some designs for the map, an essential part of the product as we needed people to follow the map and find the park.

We all thought that working on the brown parcel paper really well. Relating it to nature etc.

Final Logo

We decided on this due to the decision to print onto the brown it needed to be quite bold as otherwise it wouldn't show up and black due to readablity.
