PEACOCKS feedback from boards

Presentation Boards

We have been thinking about what we will need on our presentation boards that we will submit along with our final pieces for the OUGD203 module. We need to hand in 5 a2 boards. These boards will be different to the ones we submit for YCN.

- Concept / Peacocks Research (survey, history and info about peacocks, what the problem is, what we intended to do)

- Design Context Research (graphic design / things that have inspired us and why)

- Potential Solutions (our ideas, what we thought about doing, proposed ideas)

- Visual Development (the development of our actual idea)

- Resolution (photographs of final piece)

The YCN boards will be about the final piece.s We will have about 5 landscape boards, probably a2 format also, sent as a PDF.

Here are the submission guidelines from YCN:

A PDF presentation is our ideal way to see your work: please ensure that each page of your PDF is labelled with your full name. Please clearly explain the ideas behind your entry by providing a supporting typed document, this can be a short statement explaining your idea, or by annotating your PDF. As always we are hopeful and expectant of the same loving attention to detail in the presentation and layout of your ideas.
To submit your work as part of this year's YCN Student Awards please carefully complete the form below. You will need to zip up a folder containing all items into one file - and upload just that. If you have worked on more than one brief you will need to enter each separately.

Here are my ideas for what the boards could be about:

- Concept

- Website Design

- Mailshot / Event

- New identity: bags, labels, window displays, posters

Feedback

Here is the feedback we received about our boards, as well as some other things I thought about while John was talking about the mistakes he had spotted in peoples boards:

- The text at the bottom needs to be in three columns with defined bold headers, rather than all in one long line as this is boring to read
- Correct the layout and make sure they all match and are the same
- Make another line at the top to put the peacocks logo on every board and to make our names obvious
- Include contact details
- Shrink file size for upload
- Check spelling
- Make the boards stand out somehow
- Make sure boards tell the story of your product
- Make sure boards match the product
- Consider duplication - e.g. some shots are too similar, also don't use the same word too many times
- Put 1:4 not 1/4
- Could do a front page with info on it
- Look at sentence structure - make sure there are no word widows
- Make sure the boards work on screen as well as printed
- Keep it concise
- Get boards printed in digital print
- Spelling mistake on invite: unveiling, also each sentence needs a full stop
- Don't write we hope - be assertive and show confidence in designs
- Re-consider the layout of the board with the website pages in it
- Line up the line at the bottom with the edge of the image
- Write the specific gsm the invite was made with
- Make sure gaps between things are all the same size
