Colour scheme and typefaces

From research into both film4, looking at their digital media i.e. website and adverts. (found in my design context ) I felt it was necessary to decide on a tight colour scheme, something that would limit my outcomes to create some consistency and set the right tone for the mood with regards to ident and opening sequence.

I think that deciding on a colour scheme will make things a lot easier when designing, and at this point I think that I need to recognise that the predominant colours within my work are black and red.

This is inkeeping with the research I have carried out, and importantly inkeeping with FILM4, which I think is the most important thing, as if it seemed to stand out for being an anomaly then it would lose any credibility.

With regards to typeface I am going to concentrate on HELVETICA AND ARIAL BLACK. The decision to use san serif typefaces was mainly dictated by the channel I am broadcasting it on, however, I think if I was showing it on another channel, these typefaces would also be inkeeping with the subject matter. The use of type in idents and opening sequences is something where clarity is really important. The message conveyed needs to be concise and accurate. Helvetica and arial black are very upfront and straightforward. This is the message I want the content to convey.
