Photoshop workshop



When working with a brief ensure you have looked at:

-Colour mode: CMYK-Print // RGB- Screen

-Size: (for this brief A5 148mm x 210mm)

-Resolution: DPI - dots // PPI - pixels
Standard resolutions: PRINT-300 // SCREEN-72

-File format

Cropping to a specific size:

Destructive cropping

Non destructive
moving the image on the specific size of canvas

Adjusting brightness and contrasts

This way creates an adjustment layer, therefore it allows you to edit layers and not the image

Selection Tools

Magic Wand - for high contrasting image
Quick selection tool - paint over area to select//tolerance-brush size

After selecting the chosen area by choosing the Brightness/Saturation layer clicking 'Edit --- Fill' it is possible to select an area that will not be effected by the editing.

Choose Marquee tool
Then use 'create new fill or adjustment then edit.

Creating patterns

Holding alt down allows scale to stay the same, create a repeatable image by transforming.
Crop tool- crop the image

Edit // Define pattern

File new // the same as other side.

Fill with pattern:
Edit // Fill // Pattern

If you want to save a file to continue working with save as a PSD:photoshop

If finished : FLATTEN IMAGE

If printing: TIFF

Creating a double sided document.

Select both files, open with preview, highlight both (shift), file, print selected images, ensure the right size.

Bottom left hand corner - save as pdf. (DONT HIDE FILE EXTENSION)
